The reading & festivities will honor Fornés & her legacy. Actress & academic, Jennifer Joan Thompson, coordinates.
Atlanta. Duncan Sheik and I visit the Atlanta International School, my alma matter. Workshops and concerts abound! It's mostly just me being a groupie, and Duncan giving badass concerts. More info here.
NYC. Judith Malina passed away today, April 10th. Judith was widely considered a giant among the giants of experimental theater. She was the co-founder of The Living Theater, the oldest experimental group in the United States. I met her briefly while working with The Assembly Theater Project on That Poor Dream. Judith loved, adored, & mentored The Assembly; and, The Assembly, like The Living Theater, is comprised of theater-makers who are deeply committed to making work for social change. Her death follows the death of other inspiring downtown notables, including Tom Murrin in 2012 & Ruth Maleczech in 2013. Wishing Judith Malina and those who knew and loved her much peace.
