NYC. Went to see Alice by Heart today at MCC. Duncan Sheik and Steven Sater are modern day mad magicians. They challenge and re-invent the form of musical theater like no others. Also, their incredibly unique, poetic empathy for the coming-of-age genre is yet again on full display. The piece is gorgeously meditative and eloquent. The cast is, of course, fantastic. Grace McLean was born to play the Queen of Hearts - I honestly cannot think of a better performance of this iconic character. Go see it.
